NAPH Members Recognized by Joint Commission for Quality - Sept. 25, 2012

The Joint Commission (TJC), the nation’s major hospital accreditation board, last week released its annual report of hospitals that have excelled on quality measures. TJC evaluated more than 3,300 accredited hospitals on 45 evidence-based practices and has recognized 620 hospitals (up last year from 405) that followed recommended procedures 95 percent of the time – earning them the title of “top performer.” The increase in hospitals recognized is largely due to performance improvements and the inclusion of psychiatric hospitals, which TJC previously did not evaluate.

The following NAPH members were included in the list:

  • Lakeside Medical Center (Health Care District of Palm Beach County; Belle Glade, FL)
  • Memorial Hospital Miramar (Memorial Healthcare System; Miramar, FL)
  • Memorial Hospital Pembroke (Memorial Healthcare System; Pembroke Pines, FL)
  • Memorial Hospital West (Memorial Healthcare System; Pembroke Pines, FL)
  • St. Luke's Health Magic Valley Regional Medical Center (St. Luke’s Health System; Twin Falls, ID)
  • Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center (LSU Health Care Services Division; Houma, LA)
  • Wing Memorial Hospital (UMass Memorial Health Care; Palmer, MA)
