  • NEW AD CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED TO URGE CONGRESS TO PROTECT MEDICAID (Sept. 20, 2011)

    Washington D.C. –The National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems recently launched an advertising campaign to educate Congress and the Administration about the implications of cutting Medicaid to the nearly 60 million Americans currently covered by the program –mostly children, women and the disabled. Medicaid is under fire from all sides during the deficit reduction debate, and NAPH is standing up for patients and Medicaid beneficiaries across the country.

    While NAPH supports deficit reduction as one component of the nation’s future economic stability, NAPH strongly opposes the proposal in this draft to accelerate cuts in vital Medicare and Medicaid payments to safety net hospitals and health systems.

  • NAPH NAMES BRUCE SIEGEL AS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (July 19, 2010)

    The National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems (NAPH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Siegel, MD, MPH, to the newly created position of Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Siegel succeeds Christine Capito Burch, who is retiring from NAPH after serving 20 years as Executive Director.

  • Press Statement: Public Hospitals Nationwide Join Patient Safety Initiative - December 8, 2009

    NAPH, Kaiser Permanente and the National Patient Safety Foundation today announced the “Patient Safety Initiative at America’s Public Hospitals.” This two-year program aims to enhance patient safety programs at public hospitals to ensure safe, high-quality care for vulnerable and low-income populations that depend on publicly supported health care institutions for medical care.
