NAPH, Other Hospital Groups Meet With HHS Secretary on Medicaid, ACA - July 24, 2012

NAPH was among several national hospital organizations that met with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on July 23 to discuss the landscape for health care reform following the Supreme Court’s decision on the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The groups discussed the impact of the Court’s decision on Medicaid expansion, state scenarios and concerns about access and coverage. “We had an open discussion about the risk to the safety net without a full expansion of Medicaid and with disproportionate share hospital cuts looming,” NAPH President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Siegel, MD, MPH, said. “We hope to continue a productive dialogue around these issues as the secretary moves forward with ACA implementation.”
