House Appropriations Subcommittee Set to Mark Up Labor-HHS Bill - July 17, 2012

The House Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), Education and Related Agencies is scheduled to begin markup of the fiscal year 2013 Labor-HHS appropriations bill, which bans the use of funds to implement the Affordable Care Act, along with other measures. However, neither this bill nor a similar Senate measure (S. 3295) will likely be considered by either chamber. Most speculate that Congress will extend current spending levels beyond Sept. 30 and then compromise on a larger, consolidated spending bill during the lame duck session at the end of this year.
