Congress Set to Return from Recess Next Week - Sept. 5, 2012

House and Senate lawmakers are expected to return from recess next week after two weeks of focus on party nominating conventions: the Republican National Convention Aug. 27 to 30, in Tampa, Fla.; and the Democratic National Convention this week, in Charlotte, N.C. Although Congress likely will keep a light schedule through the Nov. 6 elections, lawmakers are expected to finish work on a six-month extension of federal funding, now set to expire Sept. 30.
