House and Senate Leaders Agree on Federal Government Funding Extension - Aug. 7, 2012

Last week House and Senate leaders reached an agreement to extend funding of the federal government for 6 months, avoiding a last-minute partisan fight. The current funding is set to expire on Sept. 30, which is the end of the fiscal year. The agreement will allow Congress to maintain a light calendar in between the August recess – Aug. 3 to Sept. 10 – and Election Day.
