NuHealth/Nassau University Medical Center

Founded in 1935 as Meadowbrook Hospital, NuHealth/Nassau University Medical Center is operated by the Nassau Health Care Corporation, which includes a Level I trauma center, a 589-bed extended care facility, and five community health centers located throughout Nassau County. It also runs the county’s only burn center, serving more than 200 inpatients and more than 1,000 outpatients annually. As one of Long Island’s largest teaching hospitals, NuHealth is affiliated with the Health Sciences Center of the State University at Stony Brook, the NY College of Osteopathic Medicine, the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, and the North Shore/LIJ Health System. NuHealth is at the center of emergency preparedness for Nassau County and houses the Nassau Police Department’s Emergency Medical Control base.
