Graduate Nurse Education Demonstration

The Graduate Nurse Education Demonstration, as specified by the Affordable Care Act, will provide payments to hospitals that work with nursing schools to train advanced practice nurses (APRNs) to help offset the cost of training. This initiative aims to bolster the primary care workforce by helping eligible hospitals increase the availability of clinical training settings for APRNs, including non-hospital, community-based settings.

$200 million over four years

Awardees:

Eligible hospitals, that have a partnership with a school of nursing, can submit an application to CMS. Applications are due by May 21, 2012. CMS will choose 5 eligible hospitals to participate in this demonstration.
