Creating a culture of high performance and dedicated, quality patient care is challenging, and communication plays an integral role in this endeavor. Language barriers can lead to poor health outcomes, less use of preventive services, and low satisfaction with the patient/provider relationship.
During this distance learning opportunity, experts in the field will discuss the importance of providing culturally and linguistically appropriate care and the keys to increasing patient satisfaction when a language barrier is present.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of the potential consequences language barriers can cause in the health care setting
  • Develop awareness of language, culture, and the associated needs of patients with a diverse background
  • Listen to a member’s story of successful culture change
