Hospital Characteristics Report

For more than 25 years, NAPH has been conducting an annual survey of the financial and operational “characteristics” of its members and publishing findings in the annual Hospital Characteristics report. The latest report highlights the situation of America's safety net hospitals amid a major economic crisis. Using 2009 data, this study found NAPH members:
  • Provide 20 percent of the nation's uncompensated care but represent just 2 percent of US acute care hospitals; 16 percent of NAPH member hospital costs are uncompensated – significantly higher than the national hospital average of 6 percent. Continue Reading
