The Annual Conference is Just Around the Corner!

I have been working on NAPH’s annual conferences for four years now, and this year I’m more excited than ever before. First of all, it is going to be held in beautiful Denver, Colorado. I am definitely energized about visiting such a gorgeous city for the first time and I can’t wait to enjoy some of the natural Rocky Mountain beauty. Secondly, I am very eager to join our members in celebrating this year’s major accomplishments.

The title of this year’s conference is Innovation + Reform = the New Health Care Paradigm. With the passage of health reform, members are assuming the role as leaders in transforming delivery systems to improve efficiency, outcomes and patient satisfaction. We are hoping the annual conference will create a forum for members to discuss the changes that need to be made including how to improve transitions in care and developing medical homes etc.

This year’s agenda is packed with nationally recognized speakers, site visits to Denver Health and the University of Colorado Hospital, a special workshop on Lean hosted by Denver Health and cutting edge breakout sessions.

NAPH is honored to have Former Senator Tom Daschle speak this year. I am looking forward to getting an insider’s perspective on what’s in the health reform legislation and how safety net health systems should prepare for health reform implementation. We are also pleased to have Colorado Governor Bill Ritter give his perspective on the current political landscape in Colorado.

One of the main reasons I feel our members attend the annual conference is so they can re-acquaint themselves with old friends and meet new colleagues. At the conference, members have networking opportunities with peers who share similar missions and institutional challenges. It is exciting to see members sharing best practices with their colleagues at the conference. Not only do members get a chance to hear about new trends and breakthrough ideas that can help their hospitals, but they also get a chance to meet other folks who are very interested in the same issues.

Each year, our members come together from all over the country to develop fresh ideas, network with old and new colleagues, and take what they learned back to their health systems. What better way to begin the long journey ahead than with the help of colleagues and a beautiful backdrop of the Rocky Mountains!

I can’t wait to see everyone there…Denver, here we come
