Now that floor votes on health reform in both the House and Senate have been postponed until after the August Congressional recess, it is time to reflect on the importance of being a "special interest" – and the responsibility that goes along with it. This includes the responsibility to speak out – especially over the next several weeks – in support of health reform itself.
 
Thus far in the health reform debate, it seems that one of the lower circles of political purgatory has been reserved for lobbyists and "special interests" – as in: "We can't let the special interests kill health reform like they did in the Clinton era".
