Public hospitals and health systems play a significant role in ensuring access to specialty care services for the low-income and uninsured population. However, patients often experience long wait times for specialty care appointments. As a result, patients may experience unnecessary anxiety and sometimes worsening of their condition. To address this issue, public hospitals and health systems have developed and implemented successful pilot programs and initiatives.

On this call you will hear how:

1. Member hospitals have developed and implemented systems and procedures to improve access to specialty care;
2. Results that have been achieved;
3. How to get provider participation when developing referral management systems and;
4. Lessons learned in developing and implementing referral management systems.
