Reform Implementation Event with President Obama

I was honored this afternoon to attend a health reform implementation event at the White House. Earlier in the day, President Obama met with health industry executives to discuss their progress in implementing health insurance market reforms mandated by the reform law. At the early afternoon speech in the East Room - attended by more than 150 people, including the insurance executives and many other stakeholders - the President called the insurance market reforms a "true patients' bill of rights." The event marked the 90 day anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act. The President concluded his speech by telling the stories of several families who have benefitted by the insurance market changes included in the law and challenging Members of Congress who are calling for repeal of the law to "come talk to these people and tell them why we should go back to the status quo prior to us signing this bill - go back to the way things were."
