Los Angeles County Department of Health Services
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the safety net provider for the county’s 10 million residents. DHS hospitals are beacons to individuals seeking high-quality medical care, regardless of circumstance. Through academic affiliations with the University of Southern California and the University of California, DHS facilities train 40 percent of physician graduates in the county. DHS operates three acute care hospitals encompassing two Level 1 trauma centers and a burn treatment center, a national rehabilitation hospital, multiple county-run health centers, and more than 120 primary care locations. In 2008, DHS opened its new 600-bed flagship LAC+USC Medical Center, the largest capital project ever undertaken by the county.
