| Description This call will provide you with a brief background on the nursing measures, the current pilot testing being conducted by the Joint Commission (JC) and a NAPH hospital's experience in the JC pilot testing project. In 2004, NQF endorsed a set of 15 nursing –sensitive consensus standards that address patient-centered outcome measures, nursing-centered intervention measures and system-centered measures. Three of these (Smoking cessation counseling for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia) are included in the CMS Core Measures, which are publicly reported on Hospital Compare www.hospitalcompare.org. CMS has proposed to include four more in the FY 2010 quality measurement set for reporting. The speakers on this call have had extensive experience in the process of NQA endorsement, pilot testing and implementation of the measures in a NAPH hospital. We believe that they will provide you with information about using the nursing measures in your hospital. |
