Mr. Patrick Wardell

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) has chosen safety net veteran leader Wardell as CEO. In this role, Wardell will use his broad knowledge and understanding of safety net institutions and population health to guide CHA through this crucial period of health reform by improving, innovating and modernizing patient care. Wardell comes to CHA from Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich., where, as president and CEO he reversed a 7-year cumulative loss of $34 million to a $7 million surplus in 2 years, established Hurley Children's Hospital and constructed a state-of-the-art emergency trauma center, and introduced patient-centered care and Six Sigma. Wardell received his bachelor's degree from Union College in New York and his MBA from Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management. He has served on the boards of NAPH, Michigan Hospital Association and Whaley Children's Center.

Mr. Scott Glasrud

UHC, one of NAPH's strategic partners, has appointed Glasrud as EVP and COO. In this role, he will have oversight of operations and all business units, including programs and initiatives focused on performance improvement, supply chain, strategy research, public policy and networking. Glasrud will also lead business development, which means helping UHC members demonstrate leadership in health care delivery. UHC and its members - the nation's leading nonprofit academic medical centers - will benefit from Glasrud's 30-plus years of experience in health care, the last 15 of which were spent as chief financial officer of The University of Kansas Hospital. Glasrud received a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology and a Master of Science degree in business, health care fiscal management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has served on several boards, including REACH Healthcare Foundation and the Audit Committee of the American Heart Association.

Mr. Cody Langbehn

As the new CEO of St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center, Langbehn will use his extensive experience delivering care to residents of the Intermountain Region to guide the medical center's future development. Prior to joining St. Luke's, Langbehn served as executive director of regional operations at Billings Clinic in Billings, Mont. Before that, Langbehn was CEO of Pioneer Medical Center, a critical access hospital in Timber, Mont., managed by Billings Clinic. Langbehn earned a bachelor's degree in health care administration form Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., and a master's degree in health care administration from Montana State University - Billings.

Ms. Mary K. Eagen

As Parkland's new executive vice president and CNO, Eagen will play a vital role in strengthening nursing operations throughout the Parkland system. Having most recently served as regional chief nurse executive at CHRISTUS Health Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Eagen re-engineered the nursing division to enhance quality, improve patient outcomes and successfully contribute to the financial turnaround of three CHRISTUS hospitals. Her experience with designing a centralized, systems-oriented nursing model will be crucial as Parkland redesigns its nursing and clinical operations. Eagen holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman's University in Denton and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Los Angeles. She serves on the board of the American Heart Association and is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, American College of Healthcare Executives and Texas Nurses Network.

Mr. Delvecchio Finley, M.P.P., F.A.C.H.E.

As Harbor-UCLA Medical Center's new CEO, Finley will guide the organization through health care reform. His innovative and results-oriented leadership will help Harbor-UCLA fulfill its goal of implementing a patient-centered model of care. Finley comes to Harbor-UCLA from California Pacific Medical Center, where he served as vice president of operations. He has also held executive positions at San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center and Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and served as a division administrator at the University of California, San Francisco. Finley received a B.S. in chemistry from Emory University and a master's degree in public policy from Duke University. He is board certified in health care management as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Ms. Karen Moore, MS, FACHE

Moore brings more than 30 years of experience improving health care quality and the patient experience to her new role as Marlborough Hospital's president and CEO. Beginning as a staff nurse in neurosurgery, she developed a foundation of direct patient care and innovative leadership. Most recently, Moore served as the chief executive officer for Kindred Hospital Park View in Springfield, Mass., where her successes included implementing an electronic medical record system and improving care delivery, which resulted in at least 10 percent increased revenue and yearly admissions increases of more than 20 percent. Moore is board certified in health care management as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, was awarded a distinguished alumni award from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, School of Nursing and completed a Harvard University professional development program for senior executives. She is a past member of the board of directors of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce and is on the executive leadership team of the American Heart Association's 2011 Pioneer Valley Heart Walk.

After most recently serving as CEO of Schneider Regional Medical Center in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Taylor is re-joining her medical family as CEO of Broward Health Imperial Point Medical Center. Taylor previously served as chief operating officer of Broward Health Broward General Medical Center (BGMC) and Chris Evert Children's Hospital, and as director of outpatient surgical services at BGMC. Taylor's proven leadership - Schneider Regional was recognized by The Joint Commission for improvement in core measures during her tenure - will be an asset to Imperial Point in areas including physician relations, community involvement and strategy implementation. Taylor received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Holy Family College and her master's degree in nursing and master's degree in business administration from Widener University in Pennsylvania.

John Haupert is set to begin work as the new president and CEO of Grady Health System. His appointment was approved in August in a unanimous decision by the Grady Memorial Hospital Corporation Board of Directors, which noted his outstanding credentials and "know-how of working in a safety-net health system like Grady." Haupert comes to Grady from another safety net hospital, Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas. At Parkland, where he served as chief operating officer, Haupert was overseeing the design and construction of a $1.3 billion, 862-bed replacement hospital and supporting specialty clinics. Haupert has also served as administrative resident and then vice president of Methodist Dallas Medical Center, president of Methodist Charlton Medical Center and executive vice president for corporate services and business development for Methodist Health System.
