Building Health Information Systems

Health Information Technology (HIT) plays an integral role in transforming the health care delivery system. Improved integration and coordination of care is made more effective when health information can be easily accessed by providers in multiple care settings. Safety net hospitals recognize the important role of HIT and, even in the face of limited capital resources, safety net health systems support the widespread adoption of interoperable electronic health records (EHR).
