Why Should Health Care Workers Be Interested in Their Own Health and Wellness?

Providing the finest, accessible-to-all medical care is the core of what we do as the nation’s safety net hospitals. But why stop with just those patients that enter our doors?

At Truman Medical Centers, we have built an internal culture of health and fitness for our employees that aligns with the national Healthy People 2020 program. Admittedly, taking care of your own is a worthy ambition that also makes good business sense. A healthy staff equals low internal health care costs. But at TMC, we have a greater vision. We want to lead the way to a more fit and healthy community.

We believe that if TMC employees are healthy and living fuller, richer lives, then we set an example for the community. If you talk healthy lifestyles, then you should walk the talk. And equally as important, by helping our employees feel their best, we know they are working every day at their best to extend healthy living beyond TMC walls.
