NAPH Submits Comments on Baucus Health Reform White Paper

In advance of the Senate Finance Committee’s development and release of health reform legislation, NAPH submitted comments to Chairman Baucus and members of the Senate Finance Committee on the health reform white paper, “Call to Action,” released by Chairman Baucus in late 2008. As evidenced by the Committee’s delivery system reform proposal, the Baucus white paper is viewed as the starting point for the Committee’s development of health reform legislation. The comments reiterate NAPH’s health reform principles and urge Chairman Baucus and the Committee members to maintain DSH funding, expand graduate medical education and health care workforce training programs, and ensure that public payer reimbursement is sufficient to cover provider costs.
