Wishard Health Services
Francisca Perez of Indianapolis lives only three minutes from Pecar Health Center, part of Wishard Health Services. As a mother, she prefers all of her children be treated at Pecar, especially four-year-old Martin. When Martin was born at Pecar, doctors quickly diagnosed his heart murmur, as well as asthma. Because his conditions were discovered and treated early, Martin is able to lead a healthy, normal life. Francisca’s experiences have confirmed for her the excellent level of care her entire family has come to rely on.
“It's better at Wishard. Everyone is treated the same here, whether they have private insurance or are on Medicaid, Medicare or Wishard Advantage,” Perez said. She continued by saying, “Wishard offers a lot of help for the Hispanic community. They not only have good doctors and nurses but wonderful interpreters as well.”
Wishard offers one of only two Level I trauma centers in the state, and its emergency department is the state’s busiest. Wishard also offers eight community health centers with an emphasis on providing access to care to everyone, regardless of ability to pay, across the continuum of life. Pecar Health Center, the health center Perez and her family depend on, provides numerous services including a pharmacy; Women, Infant and Children Services; financial counseling, interpreters and more.
