The NAPH Safety Network (NSN) – a collaborative of NAPH's Transformation Center – is one of 26 hospital engagement networks funded by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services through the Partnership for Patients (PfP), a national initiative that aims to reduce preventable hospital-acquired conditions by 40 percent and preventable readmissions by 20 percent by 2013. To meet these targets, 30 NAPH hospitals have signed on to work collaboratively with the NSN, which will provide strategies, coaching and other resources to facilitate improvement. About six months into the project, NSN hospitals already are making strides toward meeting the PfP’s goals. In recognition of their progress, this month we’re highlighting some of the innovative ways NSN hospitals are increasing health care quality and patient safety.
