One Stop Preoperative Center

The One Stop Preoperative Center is a clinic developed to reduce the total time to complete the preoperative process by providing all preoperative services in a centralized location, such as admitting/registration, pre-anesthesia assessment, x-rays, laboratory, electrocardiogram (EKG), and preoperative consent and instruction.

Prior to implementing the One Stop Preoperative Center in August 2005, preoperative patients at Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC) would average approximately six hours to complete their preoperative process. Since its inception in 2005, preoperative patients now average one hour to complete their preoperative procedures.

Riverside leadership is committed to efficient and quality preoperative care, evidenced by:

• Allocation of valuable space to the project; 
• Allocation of financial resources to support new positions dedicated to the project; 
• Supporting of anesthesia physician residents in staffing the preoperative center.

Riverside County Regional Medical Center believes that time and health care quality are key to patient satisfaction. With increased patient satisfaction from the One Stop Preoperative Center, RCRMC has seen other indirect benefits—increased staff morale and improved patient flow.
