Meanwhile, the Senate Finance Committee has delayed releasing its health care reform legislation as a bipartisan group of moderate members, led by the Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT), seek to find agreement on several contentious issues.

While the Finance committee's draft has not been released or leaked, NAPH understands that the committee is strongly considering significant cuts to both Medicaid and Medicare DSH as a means of paying for expanded coverage. NAPH continues to oppose Senate efforts to cut DSH and we continue to urge member hospitals to contact their Senators to ask them to oppose such a cut. Senators should immediately contact Senator Baucus urging him to not cut Medicaid and Medicare DSH.
