HRSA Issues Final Guidance Regarding Public Entity Status - February 23, 2010

On February 5, HRSA issued its final Policy Information Notice (PIN) clarifying and modifying the documentation that the agency will require to confirm public agency status for organizations that self-identify as public agencies for the purpose of qualifying for health center grantee and FQHC Look-Alike status. The final guidance differs slightly from the draft PIN issued in August, in that "State or political subdivisions of a State" are now treated separately from "instrumentalities of government," reflecting the different types of IRS documentation that exist for each entity. We encourage members with health centers to review their governance structures to ensure that they come into compliance with HRSA's standards.
