States Asked to Join Multi-Payer Advanced Primary Care Practice Demonstration - June 9, 2010

On June 2, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) invited states to apply for the Multi-Payer Advanced Primary Care Practice Demonstration, authorized under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The demonstration, which will be implemented no later than January 1, 2011, will promote the establishment of patient-centered medical homes, with joint support from Medicare, Medicaid, and private health insurers. CMS plans on approving demonstration programs in up to six states. Applications are due August 3, 2010. For interested states, CMS will be holding a question and answer session regarding the solicitation and application process on Wednesday, June 9, at 12:00 Eastern Time, the details of which can be found online.
