New Study on Florida Medicaid Reform Shows Improved Health, Lower Costs - November 22, 2011

According to a new Heritage Foundation study, Florida’s Medicaid Reform Pilot has saved the state around $161 million annually, led to higher levels of patient satisfaction, and achieved better health outcomes when compared to traditional Medicaid managed care or commercial health maintenance organizations. The study highlights how the Reform Pilot has resulted in tailored benefits, a meaningful choice of plans, a focus on health and patient satisfaction, and monetary rewards for healthy choices and improved health. The study estimates that as much as $91 billion can be saved annually if the Reform Pilot was replicated nationally.
