New CMS Website Tracks Status of Medicaid RAC Implementation - March 2, 2011

The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently launched a website that shows the status of each state’s implementation of Medicaid Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs). Under the Affordable Care Act, states are required to implement Medicaid RAC programs similar to already existing Medicare RACs, and CMS last year proposed an implementation deadline of April 1, 2011. Recently, CMS extended the implementation deadline until it publishes a final rule on Medicaid RACs later this year, at which point it will announce a new implementation deadline.
