NAPH Submits Comment Letter on Health Care-Acquired Conditions - March 23, 2011

NAPH submitted comments on March 18 to the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on its recent proposed rule on Medicaid payment adjustments for Health Care-Acquired Conditions (HCACs). The letter affirms NAPH’s commitment to enhancing patient safety, but provides a number of suggested changes to the proposed rule to ensure the requirements match stated objectives. NAPH also urges CMS to continue to work with stakeholders before issuing a final rule. CMS will now consider the comments of NAPH and other interested parties; a final rule is expected in several months.
