NAPH Responds to White House Proposals - September 27, 2011
The Legislative Event on Capitol Hill took place just 2 days after President Barack Obama released specific recommendations for reducing the budget deficit to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. While NAPH supports some of the ideas included in the president’s proposal, we are very concerned about several proposed cuts. In particular, we disagree with the president’s proposal to reduce the use of provider taxes to help fund state Medicaid programs, a proposal to cut federal spending on Medicaid through a “blended FMAP” mechanism, and a 10 percent reduction in Medicare indirect medical education payments. NAPH’s press statement is available on our website.
