NAPH Provides Analysis of Proposed ACO Regulations - April 6, 2011

The Obama Administration on March 31 issued a proposed rule from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and a series of other policies to govern the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP). The CMS proposed rule does not apply to alternative accountable care organization (ACO) models including potential Medicaid ACOs, which will be tested through CMS’ Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. CMS will accept comments on its proposed rule through June 6. NAPH has provided a summary of the proposed rule. NAPH continues to review the proposed rule and evaluate issues of critical importance to our members and will provide additional analysis in the coming weeks.
