NAPH Meets with Senior HHS Officials on Delivery System Reforms - January 25, 2011
NAPH met with Joe McCannon, senior advisor to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Don Berwick, last week to discuss Medicaid waivers, the safety net accountable care organization (ACO) proposal we submitted in December, patient safety, and other reform issues. The meeting was extremely productive and we expect to continue to work with him moving forward in the next few months. Later in the week, NAPH met with Jim Macrae, head of the Bureau of Primary Health Care at the federal Health Resources and Services Administration to discuss implementation of the Community-Based Collaborative Care Networks (CCN) program. While NAPH and coalition allies are working to secure funding for CCNs through the regular appropriations process, we have encouraged HRSA to begin working on rulemaking for the program in the mean time.
