NAPH Executive Director Attends White House H1N1 Meeting - September 28, 2009

Chris Burch recently participated in a White House meeting to discuss the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) recommendation that health care workers wear N95 respirators to protect against H1N1 virus. The IOM endorsed the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC’s) current H1N1 guidelines, which require the use of respirators. The purpose of the meeting was to solicit input on whether and how the CDC’s guidelines on respirators should be revised. NAPH was one of eight organizations represented at the meeting, which included representatives from the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, the Fire Chiefs Association, and long-term care providers, among others.
