HHS Announces Additional Support for States to Upgrade Medicaid HIT Systems - November 11, 2010
The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Nov. 3 issued a notice of proposed rulemaking to help states streamline and upgrade their Medicaid eligibility systems. Under the proposed rule, states could be eligible for a federal matching rate of 90 percent for the design and development of new Medicaid health information technology (HIT) systems until Dec. 31, 2015, and 75 percent thereafter for maintenance and operations. States are currently eligible for a 50 percent matching rate. The funds can be used for Exchange-related eligibility system changes and for Medicaid system modifications that are not directly related to Exchanges.
