Extension of Enhanced Medicaid Funding Stalled – NAPH Calling for Action - April 28, 2010

he six month extension of enhanced Federal Medicaid matching funds – a top NAPH priority – continues to be stalled in Congress. The legislation which includes the FMAP extension has been stalled since its passage by the Senate in March as House and Senate leaders try to find a set of mutually agreeable financial offsets for a portion of the legislation. Some on Capitol Hill are discussing attempting to move the FMAP extension in a different legislative vehicle.

NAPH is calling on all member hospitals to contact their delegations to support immediate passage of the FMAP extension. In addition, we are asking members of Congress to sponsor freestanding legislation to extend enhanced FMAP – S. 3000 and H.R. 4263 – as a way to show support for the extension. NAPH has developed a one-page Our View document detailing the need for Congress to act quickly on this critical issue.
