Medicaid FMAP Rates for Q1 of FY 2010 Announced - February 17, 2010
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a notice on February 2 announcing the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) rates, as adjusted by Section 5001 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), for the first quarter of FY 2010. Under ARRA, FMAP rates are temporarily increased by a formula that includes an adjustment based on state unemployment levels and, therefore, may vary from quarter to quarter. While the FMAP increase is set to expire on December 31, 2010, President Obama proposed to extend the ARRA enhanced FMAP rates through June 30, 2011, as part of his fiscal year 2011 budget proposal, and NAPH is urging Congress to include the extension as part of a jobs bill or other vehicle in the near future. Specific FMAP rates for each state are available here.
