Government Accountability Office Solicits Nominations to MACPAC - August 10, 2009
On August 5, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) announced that it is accepting nominations to the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC), which was established by the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 (CHIPRA). CHIPRA requires the Comptroller General to appoint 17 MACPAC members by January 1, 2010, which are to include, among others, health care providers. MACPAC is charged with reviewing Medicaid and CHIP Medicaid policies affecting children’s access to and the quality of covered items and services, as well as reviewing the effect of Medicaid and CHIP payment policies on access to items and services for other Medicaid populations. MACPAC nominating letters must be submitted to GAO by October 1, 2009.
