GAO Announces MACPAC Appointees - January 5, 2010

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has announced the appointment of 17 members to the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC). MACPAC was established by the Children's Health Insurance Reauthorization Act, adopted by Congress last February, and is charged with reviewing the effect of Medicaid and CHIP payment policies on Medicaid populations’ access to care. The 17 nominees include Dr. Patricia Gabow (CEO of NAPH member hospital Denver Health) and Sara Rosenbaum (Chair of the Department of Health Law and Policy at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services, and Board Member of the National Public Health and Hospital Institute, NPHHI). NAPH congratulates Dr. Gabow and Ms. Rosenbaum on this incredible achievement. Dr. Gabow’s and Ms. Rosenbaum’s appointments will provide a critical voice on the Commission for public hospitals and health systems.
