Joint Commission and HHS Release Language Access Video - November 17, 2009

The Joint Commission and HHS have jointly released a video, “Improving Patient-Provider Communication,” which is aimed at assisting providers to ensure that individuals with limited English proficiency, as well as those who are deaf and hard of hearing, are able to access quality health care services. The video emphasizes the importance of adhering to Federal civil rights standards and the Joint Commission’s accreditation standards regarding effective communication and language access.
