Hospitals to Push FMAP Extension and Other Issues at Joint Legislative Day - July 7, 2010

NAPH and five other national hospital associations are co-hosting a joint legislative day on Capitol Hill on July 15. After Congress was unable to pass an extension of enhanced federal Medicaid funding for states (FMAP) in June, NAPH elected to co-host this event to spur congressional action on the critical issue. The hospital legislative event complements continuing efforts by allied constituencies working to urge Congress to act. Last week, a bipartisan group of ten governors held a press conference in Washington urging immediate action.

The three issues to be discussed during the fly-in are the enhanced FMAP extension, hospital payment cuts included in the Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System rule and Health Information Technology incentives. NAPH encourages all hospitals to send a representative to Washington on July 15. The one-day fly-in will begin with a breakfast and briefing at 9:30 a.m. at the Liaison Hotel on Capitol Hill. State hospital associations are coordinating appointments on the Hill. Participants should register with Michelle Mathy at the AHA: AHAadvocacy@aha.org. Please contact NAPH with any questions.
