House Expected to Pass Health Care Reform Repeal Bill - January 19, 2011

The House of Representatives is poised to approve legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act on Jan. 19. The two-page repeal bill is expected to be approved by the House on a largely party-line vote, but is not expected to see action in the Senate, which is under Democratic Party control. Upon introduction of the bill, NAPH issued a statement opposing its adoption and has invited NAPH hospital leaders to guest post on our Safety Net Matters blog to talk about the value of health care reform for our patients and communities. Following the largely symbolic repeal vote, House committees of jurisdiction are expected to immediately begin health care reform oversight hearings and begin to mark-up legislation to “replace” the Affordable Care Act.
