Health Care will Dominate Early Action in 112th Congress - January 4, 2011

The 112th Congress will officially commence on Jan. 5, 2011, when every House member and new Senators take the oath of office. House Republicans will waste no time getting to work on their top legislative priority – repeal of the Affordable Care Act, enacted last year. The House Rules Committee is scheduled to pass the rule for debate of the repeal bill on Friday, Jan. 7. The final vote is expected to take place on Jan. 12. The two-page bill is expected to pass the House in a partisan vote, but will not see action in the Senate, where Democrats are in control. House Republicans are also expected to pass a resolution instructing committees of jurisdiction to pass legislation on modifying the Affordable Care Act.
