HRSA Awards ACA Health Center Grants - September 27, 2011

On Sept. 15, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded grants to 129 organizations that want to become community health centers. The planning grants totaled $10 million and were authorized by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Grant recipients include community-based organizations, faith-based initiatives and one senior center. All grantees plan to provide a more comprehensive range of primary health care services and/or to expand existing services to a broader geographic area. Some grantees also plan to target specific conditions, such as mental health and HIV/AIDS. Public and nonprofit private entities that are not currently receiving federal Health Center Program grants were eligible for this funding opportunity.
