HRSA Announces $33 Million in Health Care Workforce Awards - September 28, 2009

On September 11, HRSA announced $33 million in grant awards to expand the training of health care professionals. These grants have been awarded through six programs: Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students ($19.3 million), Centers of Excellence ($4.9 million), Public Health Traineeships ($3 million), Nursing Workforce Diversity ($2.6 million), Health Careers Opportunities ($2.5 million), and Dental Public Health Residency Training ($810,925). Of the $500 million in health care workforce funding that HRSA received under the Recovery Act, a total of $167 million has yet to be awarded.
