HRSA Announces $700 Million in ACA Capital Grants for Health Centers - September 13, 2011

On Sept. 9, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced two grant opportunities – funded through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) – for health centers. The first opportunity provides $100 million for grantees to address immediate and pressing capital needs within health centers. The second opportunity provides $600 million for longer-term projects to improve capacity to provide primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations. Grants awarded through this opportunity can be used for projects including alteration/renovation, expansion or construction of a facility. To be eligible, the applicant organization must be an existing health center approved for grant support under the Health Center Program in fiscal year (FY) 2011; the organization cannot have received a previous award through either the FY 2010 Facility Investment Program or FY 2011 Capital Development funding opportunities. Grant applications are due Oct. 12.
