Health IT Enrollment Workgroup Solicits Public Comment - June 30, 2010

The Enrollment Workgroup of the HIT Policy and Standards Committees, which held its first meeting and public hearing on June 14, recently sought public comment on ways to simplify and streamline enrollment and eligibility in federal and state health and human services programs. The Workgroup, authorized under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was created to help the Secretary of Health and Human Services develop a set of standards for enrollment in such programs. In particular, the Workgroup will focus on electronic matching across state and federal data; retrieval and submission of electronic documentation for verification; re-use of eligibility information; capability for individuals to maintain eligibility information online; and notification of eligibility.
