HHS to Reimburse States that Care for Haiti Earthquake Survivors - November 30, 2010
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Nov. 19 announced HHS would reimburse states that used Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to cover the care of Haitian earthquake survivors. Payments for earthquake survivors are available for up to eight months from an evacuee’s date of arrival in the U.S., but no later than Nov. 10, 2010. States seeking federal reimbursement under Medicaid and CHIP must submit claims by March 1, 2011.
