HHS Solicits Input Regarding Regionalization of Emergency Care - September 1, 2009
The Emergency Care Coordination Center (ECCC) in the HHS Office of Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response is soliciting input from a variety of entities, including public hospitals, to aid in the development of national emergency regionalization demonstration projects. In an August 24 Federal Register notice, the ECCC requested the following information:
- Descriptions of existing trauma and emergency medical service models
- Analyses of current practices in regionalized clinical care
- Suggestions on data elements that should be incorporated within regionalization systems to provide for situational awareness of resource availability
- Descriptions of the opportunities and challenges in regionalized care delivery
- Suggestions on how regionalized care systems can be objectively assessed and evaluated
- Suggestions on how the concept of regionalization can be adapted to fit the unique aspects of emergency medical care
NAPH seeks feedback from members to help develop comments for submission to ECCC. Please send responses to Claudine Swartz at
