HHS Releases Additional Recovery Act Funds - November 3, 2009
HHS continues to issue funding opportunities relating to the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (Recovery Act). In recent weeks, HHS has announced the availability of $650 million in prevention and wellness funds. A total of $373 million is available to local and state health departments to support community approaches to chronic disease prevention and control. A total of $120 million is available to states to support statewide policy and environmental change initiatives for chronic disease prevention and tobacco cessation. In addition, NIH has announced the availability of $30 million in Community Infrastructure grants to help develop infrastructure needed to facilitate scientific research collaborations between academic health centers and community organizations.
