HHS to Establish Insurance Information Website by July 1 - May 11, 2010

On May 5, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published an interim final rule with comment period, announcing its intention to launch a web site by July 1 that will provide information about insurance products to individuals and small businesses. It will also provide information on the states’ high risk pools, as well as basic eligibility requirements for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The launch of this website will fulfill one of the requirements under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, to provide information helping consumers to identify affordable coverage options.
